Intrinsic social value of clay

After researching and viewing a variety of vessels first hand there are obvious links to the kinds of pots used, their value both financially, intended use and social value.

I thought I might like to play around with those things in a materialistic way.

I had intentionally used a porcelain slip on the base of what seems to be a 'lowly' social bowl form. The act of upturning the social classes in a sense, or perhaps a referent to my own personal change ( perhaps ) of social class.

I had also in mind the mortarium and I wondered how I could take the 'spoil' of sieved clay and re throw on the outside of the vessel, by doing so turning an object which should feel comforting and personal to hold into something more difficult to enjoy holding.
